All About Make it Mine, LLC.
The concept for MIM was developed by Paulette and Annette Goodreau, co-owners of Goodreau Dol LLC. Goodreau specializes in high quality, limited-edition, customizable ball-jointed dolls (BJDs). BJDs have many well-engineered joints, giving them superior poseability and range of motion compared to other dolls. Additionally, BJDs are easily customized. Goodreau's collectors can change clothing, eyes, wigs, face paint, head, torso, and on most dolls, hands, feet and linbs. These two characteristics, poseability and customizability, make it possible for collectors to have varied photo shoots of their dolls in mulitple settings. This kind of collectible play is a clear departure from traditional sit-on-a-shelf displays, showing that the doll culture is growing along with everyday trends of today's general culture.
BJDs were introduced to the collectible doll market in 1999 by Volks, a Japanese company. In the early 2000's, BJDs were produced by Japanese, Korean, and Chinese companies. These dolls had exotic faces strongly influenced by the anime art style. In October of 2006, Paulette Goodreau purchased her first BJD, quickly recognized that there was a gap in the market and immediately announced that Goodreau would produce a line of BJDs. Goodreau introduced their BJDs in 2007, bridging the gap in the market by making the faces less anime-like, which attracted the mainstream doll collectors. Goodreau has recieved countless expressions of thank you from collectors who have bought their first BJD - a Goodreau product!
Now with that background WHAT IS MIM?
MIM is a play version of the collectible dolls created by Goodreau. Over the last few years, Goodreau has tested and developed vinyl doll movement and mechanics, and researched the play doll market to prepare for launching MIM.
Launching thier doll line in mid 2011, MIM produced the most amazingly fun, customizable, poseable, original, innovative, and imaginative high-quality play doll on the market. Unfortunately, soon after MIM and Paulette encountered an unexpected family tragedy. Not only did Paulette and Annette's beloved mother pass. It was discoverd that Paulette's sister, Annette had cancer and we lost her in 2014. Paulette was taking care of both her mother and Annette and the dream of MIM was temporarily put on hold.
Fast Forward to April 2015, MIM relaunches!
With a new team on her side, Paulette relaunches MIM to bring her and her sister's vision to girls and collectors everywhere! New plans, new staff, we hope to put MIM in the hands of every collector and child that wants to Make it Mine! MIM's tagline "Make It Mine", i.e. girls will make the dolls into whomever they want them to be by personalizing and creating the dolls' looks and stories themselves. MIM does not just sell dolls; MIM is selling a whole play experience that caters to each individual girl. These dolls will be an instant hit with girls age 8 and older, but they will also be very appealing to Moms since they will encourage self-confidence, self-esteem, individuality, imagination, decision-making skills and development of their daughter's own style, all with age-appropriate doll bodies and accessories.
